A.P. Answer at Clifton Stud

Clifton Stud’s young sire A.P. Answer has found good recent form, with six winners in two weeks across five tracks nationwide, with a double at Flamingo Park.

Speedball won at Kenilworth for owners Team Valor and Mrs Vaneshree and Mr Anant Singh, for trainer Vaughn Marshall. The Clifton Stud-bred filly has had four starts at Kenilworth over 1200-1400m and she has now and placed and won from three of her four starts, the second of which saw her place four lengths off the winner in the Perfect Promise Sprint (Listed).

Previously named Distant Echo and sold off the 2014 National Yearling Sale for R140 000, the filly shares a damline with African Appeal and Well Dressed.

The next was a flashy chestnut gelding named Joshua’s Answer for Lezanne Forbes at Greyville. Bred by Avalon Stud out of Mia Joshua by Joshua Dancer, the gelding has placed and won from his last two starts over 1400m. The consistent four year old filly Strictlycumdancing broke her maiden at Fairview after placing an incredible 11 times.

Racing in the Vaal and Turffontein previously, the win was her first start at Fairview for trainer Gavin Smith. She is out of Viennese Waltz by National Assembly.

Beautifully named Whatawondafulworld [pictured], another flashy three year old filly has also been consistent, having yet to be out of the money for her owners Messrs C Gordon, G Morris, T Quigley & Brad & Brett Summers from five starts won by over a length at Scottsville on the weekend. Bred by Clifton Stud out of Windrush mare What A Life, the second dam is Gr2 winner Forest Fantasy and Whatawondafulworld has won over R80 000 in stakes to date. She sold for just R40 000 at the 2014 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale.

After winning a sensational debut at Scottsville for breeder and trainer Doug Campbell, First Answer has found form since moving to Kimberley with trainer C J Lensley. Owned in a syndicate with Messrs S L Slabbert, M S Slabbert, P C Slabbert & G E Piggott, Doug Campbell, L P Yarnell, Mr & Mrs E C Yarnell, First Answer has won three times and placed four times in his last eights starts at Flamingo Park, his fourth win taking place on Monday and the first of a double for his sire on the day.

The other came from Syd Rosseau’s St Helier Stud, with three year old filly A P Dancer also being the picture of consistency and getting her first win on Monday. Out of a Lambent Light mare, she has placed four times from five previous starts for trainer WGC Miller and owner Miss HJ Reddie.

A.P. Answer has sired the likes of Beckedorf who has placed in a Gr1 and Gr3, Stakes Placed By Jove and Gr3 Zimbabwean Guineas winner Print The Pounds. His three year old son Cutting Edge, trained by Dennis Bosch, took home the KZN Yearling Sale Million on Vodacom Durban July day for owners The Fire Racing Trust (Alesh Naidoo) and Mr HCN Da Costa. Another exciting prospect, Cutting Edge has won twice and placed twice from just five starts.

A.P. Answer has been Equinome Speed Gene tested as a C:T, likely to produce Sprinter-Milers. His fee is R5000 for the current season.

Congratulations to the team at Clifton Stud.
