Champion KZN trained mare Val De Ra flew the flag high for KZN this weekend with a scintillating victory in the Group One Cape Flying Championship over 1000m at Kenilworth. Up against some of the best sprinters in the country, in What A Winter, and international jet setting superstar, J.J.The Jet Plane, she managed to hold off the fast finishing What A Winter to take her 4th Group One victory.

Touted as the fastest thing on four legs, Val Da Ra has shown her incredible versatility with impressive victories at various racecourses around the country. She blew the field away with an impressive 1, 25 length victory over the odds-on favourite, What A Winter in the Group One Computaform Sprint at Turffontein at the beginning of May 2011 . Later in the same month, she took the SA Fillies Sprint in at Scottsville beating the likes of Gibraltar Blue and Covenant.

Her ecstatic trainer Dennis Drier said it best “She’s awesome!”.

Congratulations to Dennis and his team on flying the flag high for KZN.
