Recent Gr2 Victory Moon Stakes winner Judicial, placed third behind Louis The King in the Gr1 Sansui Summer Cup, running on strongly to grab third, ahead of Gold Cup winner Wavin’ Flag into fourth place.

The Scott Bros-bred son of Miesque’s Approval becomes the second for his sire to be placed in a Gr1, the first being Eton Square in the Vodacom Durban July. Judicial is trained by Tyrone Zackey, ridden by Karl Zechner in the Summer Cup.

Out of mare Lady Advocate by Dolpour, Judicial is a R250 000 National Two Year Old sale graduate.

Judicial has now won four times and placed seven, earning R1 075,750 in stakes.

As an aside, it is a proud moment for KZN as Louis The King sold at the 2013 KZN Yearling Sale for just R55 000, and has gone onto win almost R5-million and four Gr1’s.

This is a sale that has produced numerous Group winners in recent years – including the likes of Virgo’s Babe, Colour Of Courage, Jimmi Choo and another Gr1 winner with Happy Valentine.

Additional international news concerning Miesque’s Approval – his grey half-brother named Za Approval by Ghostzapper, placed second in the Gr2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar, just three quarters of a length off Kaigun on 28 November.

Za Approval’s previous outing saw him win the Listed Real Courage Stakes.

Za Approval has an impressive race record to date, winning three Gr3’s in 2013 as well as winning the race above last year.

He also placed second to Wise Dan in the Gr1 Breeders Cup Mile, the Woodbine Stakes and Shoemaker Mile – all Group 1’s.
