Ian Todd and Keith Russon of Backworth Stud report that they had their first foal born for the season. “At midday on the first warm day following the bitterly cold spell in KwaZulu-Natal, we welcomed the birth of our first foal of the season – a colt by Miesque’s Approval out of Rise Again – this is also Rise Again’s first foal!”

The colt is by Miesque’s Approval out of maiden mare, Rise Again by Tamburlaine out of Dancing Fawn by Dancing Champ, is a two-time winner and placed eight times.

Rise Again is a half-sister to Royal Champ, a Grade 2 winning 10-time winner. She is also a half-sister to five other winners including Dancing Stag and Delano, both by Cordoba who were also both exported to Hong Kong to race.

Under the second dam there are Bold Black Types such as Royal Showman, an 8-time winner including two wins in Mauritius, and Grade 3 winner Enjoy The Show.

Under the third dam there is Good Aim and Patella, a five-time winner who was exported to the USA where she had two wins and placed in a Grade 1 race, the Sigma Classic. Patella went onto stud in the USA and produced another 8-time winner in mulitiple Listed winner, Bossanova.

Backworth Stud have enjoyed significant success with Miesque’s Approval’s progeny, having bred multiple winners such as Sugar Rush (a half-sister to sire Meet At Malamala), Devonesque, Top Of The Chocs, Cape Princess and Truly Exclusive.
