Bezrin is covering his first season back in KZN at Rathmor Stud with Manny Testa and Craig Ramsay reporting back on the son of Danzig’s winners in Mauritius and Zimbabwe.

Manny of Midlands Thoroughbreds is excited to report that: “Double Date by Bezrin is racing for Midlands Thoroughbreds in Zimbabwe. After winning a Merit Rated 66 on 9 September she has gone on to run third in The Original Lotto Sable Flyers and then went down by the shortest of heads to finish second in the ZRP Fillies Charity Stakes.” Double Date is also bred by Midlands Thoroughbreds out of Harry Hotspur mare Date With Me. From five starts, she has now won and placed three times.

Trained by Ramapatee Gujadhur and owned by Messrs L M Nestadt, G L Blank, M Finlay & J S Nestadt and bred by Mrs JA Brannigan, Tandragee finished second in The Banque des Mascareignes Duke Of York Cup Group 3 at the beginning of October. Craig Ramsay says: “Tandragee has lived up to expectations as four runners finished at a little more than one length at the post – but it was Tandragee, ridden beautifully by Rye Joorawon who won it to bring a third classic win for his stable, after the Duke Of York Cup and The Barbe Cup.

“Although this was a ‘Classic’ race in Mauritius, Tandragee sadly does not get any Black type.” Tandragee is out of Badger Land mare, Mysterious Land. Craig goes onto point out that Hot Rocket also won, “so it was a double for Bezrin on the island. This is one of their top races and there is no doubt Tandragee would have continued to have carried the flag for Bezrin this season in South Africa, had he not been exported.”

Tandragee had three wins in South Africa – and placed seven times – only being out of the placings once from all his starts. He placed third to Pomodoro by two lengths in the Gr 3 Tony Ruffel Stakes in February this year.

Hot Rocket is bred by Mr R M Smith, out of the mare Wandering Star by Krusenstern. Owned by Messrs R M Smith, C Fardella, M K Heraman & S A Hoosen, Hot Rocket has placed and won from three starts. Trained in South Africa by Des Egdes, Hot Rocket won three times and placed seven times.
