Two Winners In Two Days For Kildonan

Kildonan’s progeny have won two races over the last two days with Beach Goddess and Scots Snog. His Gr2 winning daughter who was awarded the Cape Racing Award for Juvenile Filly last year – Rosier, is scheduled to run this afternoon in the Gr2 Sceptre Stakes at Kenilworth.

Beach Goddess won her second race from just three starts on the 14 January at Kenilworth for trainer Dean Kannemeyer.

Looking a speedy sort, her debut saw her finish second just a length off, whilst winning comfortably in her second start on 10 December. The filly out of Giant’s Causeway mare, Rock Goddess, is owned by Ian Longmore and bred by Klawervlei Stud. All her starts have been at the same course and length over 1200m – defeating quality fields of horses.

The Mike De Kock owned and trained three year old colt Scots Snog, appropriately named being out of a Fort Wood mare named Smooch, is bred by Moutenshoek and has earned a substantial race record to date. Winning at the Vaal on 13 January by half a length over the turf going, the Kildonan colt has also placed three times from just five starts over four different race courses in KZN and Gauteng – from 1200m to 1600m. He won after jumping from a ninth draw to well under Johnny Geroudis.

Kildonan’s three year old gelding half-brother by Right Approach, the Wilgebosdrift-bred Firth Of Clyde out of Cathay Firth by French stallion Phillipi, won by three lengths at Fairview yesterday over 1300m on the polytrack. Trained by Yvette Bremner, he has placed second previously from just five starts for owners Wilgerbosdrift (Pty) Ltd (Nom : Mrs M Slack) & Mrs W D Appelbaum.

From the last 20 runs by progeny of Kildonan, he has achieved 12 places and three wins in total over distances of 1000m to 1600m – with four horses finishing just out of the placings and knocking on the door for wins respectively.

Gr1 Equus Awarding winning Kildonan stands at Yellow Star Stud for R10 000.
