Five Winners In Two Days For Miesque’s Approval

Miesque’s Approval continues to make himself heard – having achieved an incredible five winners in two days at Clairwood, Turffontein and Borrowdale Park in Zimbabwe.

The handsome son of Miesque’s Son standing at Scott Bros is currently sitting ninth on the National Sires Log (according to stats from sportingpost.co.za) on 44 winners for the season ahead of the likes of Fort Wood, who is sitting on the same amount of winners as Miesque’s Approval.

French Approval out of mare Nouvelle (by Print) won her Maiden Plate at Turffontein on the 25th, over 2200m, for breeders Rob and Michele Pickering of Middlefield Stud, winning by a length for trainer Leon Erasmus and owner Mr J D Botha. It is the first win for the filly, who has placed seven times previously.

At Borrowdale on the 26th, Miesque’s Approval got the first of his two doubles in two days. Agnetha and Porterhouse both won over 1400m and 1300m respectively.

In a double on the day for trainer Gokhan Terzi, Agnetha won by three quarters of a length owner Mr S Armstrong in a MR 70 Open Handicap. Agnetha is bred by Dr Ian Heyns and is out of mare Dancing Queen by Northern Guest. The four year old has placed eight times and won twice – her first win in January 2013 by an incredible nine lengths!

Porterhouse, bred by Bosworth Farm Stud and out of May Ball by Eastern Viewpoint, won his second start for owner Mr J Koumides carrying top weight of 60kgs and winning by two and half lengths – giving the second horse a good beating with 2.5kgs in weight.

On the same day at Clairwood, Scrum Half bred by George Rowles and out of mare Sunset Glow by Rocky Marriage, won over 1200m for trainer Gavin Van Zyl and owners Miss V S Govender and Bold Moves 860 (Pty) Ltd (Nom : Mr E Foster) by over a length. The three year old gelding has had four starts at three different racecourses – placing in the first three and winning his last.

This was followed up with Scott Bros’ Rocky Bay (out of Dolphin Coast by Dolpour), winning over 1600m for trainer Frank Robinson and owners’ Mr W H W and Mrs N S Reusch, Messrs R J Fourie and G W Whittaker, Mr and Mrs P H De Lacy. Rocky Bay is now a four-time winner who has placed 12 times.

A very tough and sound individual, Miesque’s Approval was an Eclipse Award winner in the USA with 12 wins and earning a very respectable $2,612,529 in stakes.

He won over distances of 1600-1800m including the Breeders Cup Mile Gr.1, Makers Mark Mile Stakes, Gr.2, Firecracker Handicap, Gr.2, Red Bank Stakes, Gr.3, Kent Stakes, Gr.3, and the Pilgrim Stakes and achieved a Time Form Rating of 126. Miesque’s Approval’s grey half-brother by Ghostzapper, named Za Approval, recently finished a close second in the Breeders Cup Mile to Wise Dan.

He was also voted Champion Turf Horse in USA in 2006 as well as being the highest ranked horse in the world from the Mr Prospector line of that year. He is a half-brother multiple Stakes and 20-time winning Revved Up.

His sire Miesque’s Son was a multiple Gr 1 placed Gr 3 winner in France (Timeform 117) and a full brother to successful sire Kingmambo. Their dam is Miesque – a dual Breeder’s Cup Mile winner. Miesque’s Son is the sire of Gr1 winners and a Sire of Sires.

His dam Win Approval has produced five horses, who between them all have achieved an incredible 50 wins. She is by With Approval out of a Hoist The Flag mare, Negotiator.

Miesque’s Approval stands at the Scott Bros’ Highdown Stud in Nottingham Road – for a service fee of R35 000 last year.
