Quality Final Field For KZN Breeders Million Mile

Quality Final Field For KZN Breeders Million Mile

The long awaited final field is in for the KZN Breeders Million Mile, the second running of this exclusive race at Greyville on 30 June amongst the seven other races – the KZN Breeders Series over 1200m, 1400m and 1900m for stakes of R200 000 each.

All all-star KZN-bred field – it includes Gr 1 SA Classic winner Love Struck (by Kahal) who will be attempting a massive double by running in the Million Mile and the Gr 1 Vodacom Durban July, a week apart.

Other big names include multiple Group winner (another by Kahal) Festival Of Fire as well as the grey Middlefield-bred Kalami who ran second in the SA Fillies Classic Gr 1 – and possibly has a breeding date with sire Byword(GB) at the beginning of the 2013 breeding season.

Corredor has placed recently behind Capetown Noir and Vercingetorix in both the Gr 3 Byerley Turk and KRA Guineas Gr 2. Cookie Monster placed a very close second to Alcanina (by Mogok) in the Gr 3 Man O’ War Sprint as well as Gold Rush Sprint. From 10 starts, the consistent son of Kahal has won once and only been out of the placings once.

Coy Boy by Bezrin is a two-time winner who has placed close in his last six starts, while Summerhill sire Mullins Bay will be represented by Tinchy Stryder and Gitiano. Gitiano placed a length behind Tellina in the Gauteng Guineas Gr 2, as well as the recent Gr 2 KRA Guineas and Gr 1 SA Classic behind Alesh Naidoo’s Love Struck.

It will be the richest race-day exclusively for horses registered with the KZN Breeders Premium Scheme, totalling a stakes on the day of R2,4 million.
