Cassie O’ Malley Wins For Roski

Cassie O’ Malley’s debut win at Greyville in July 2014, lead in by breeders and owners Greg and Chelle Royden-Turner.

KZN-bred Jet Master filly Cassie O’ Malley found the winners enclosure once more, after winning her debut in impressive fashion over 1600m in July on the Polytrack. The Roski-bred filly, out of Antonia’s Lass by Jallad, won earlier in the week over 1600m once again at Turffontein for trainer Gavin Van Zyl.

Winning by almost half a length, she defeated a quality field with Divano (Silvano), Seventh Heart (Seventh Rock) and Krystle Carrington (Dynasty) placing respectively behind her on the turf course under Muzi Yeni.

Juli Santini of Roski Stud discusses the win and her half-brother on offer at the upcoming TBA National Yearling Sales in April. “We were so chuffed with Cassey O’ Malley’s win, we are so thrilled with her and she fought hard in the race for it, we are really proud of her.

“Her half-brother going to the sales is just beautiful! He is my pick of our draft. He is a lovely dark bay with a nice honest head and he moves well. He is a nicely balanced horse too who scored very well at the inspections.”

The colt, consigned as Lot 39 named Cool Beenz by Toreador, is a half-brother to three winners and a full-brother to another Roski-bred, four-time winning and beautifully named filly Crissy Sanchez. Crissy Sanchez raced from age three to five, winning and placing eight times over 1000m – 1200m.

The other winners produced by Antonia’s Lass include Ti Kanis (winner by Silvano) who also placed from just seven starts, and winner Cotton Eye Joe (by Kahal) who also placed three times.

Antonia’s Lass out of a Golden Thatch mare, is a winner who placed from seven starts. She is a half-sister to Gr3 placed Casual Jewel, a four-time winner has produced six-time winner Casual Var.

The third dam, Loyal Linda, voted Equus Champion Broodmare in 2007 has produced multiple Champions – including the likes of Gr1 Arcsa Champion two year old Gold Flier, and Gr1 Gold Challenge winner (of 10 races), Successful Bidder, followed by yet another Gr1 winner – filly Trust Antonia.

Toreador has already nicked successfully with Antonia’s Lass. The best value for money sire in South Africa, with a service fee of just R15 000, his yearlings sold in January at the CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale averaged R400 000. He is the sire of Gr1 winning Link Man, Jackodore, She’s A Stunner, Lazer Star, Deliver The Power, Las Ramblas and Roc ‘n Rose.

Greg Royden-Turner has also bred the likes of Trippi colt Journeyman, a recent winner in Dubai.
