Backworth Stud: Luxardo Wins Maiden By Five

Luxardo, winning his maiden by five lengths at Scottsville. Image: Gold Circle Backworth-bred Luxardo, by Mogok(USA) out of Absolut Star by Salaadim(USA), stormed to a convincing five length win over 1000m at Scottsville Saturday, under a confident ride from jockey Keagan de Melo for trainers Herman Brown and Frank Robinson.

The grey 3-year-old colt, who is a half-brother to the well performed Aquavit, had five previous starts comprising 3 fourths and 2 seconds.

Aquavit is a four-time winner both in South Africa and Mauritius, placing six times.

This dam-line is bursting with Bold-Black Type, including
Gr 2 SA Oaks winner Seven Stars, Hot Seven, The Seventh Star, Alpha Centauri, ARCSA Champion Two Year Old Colt Gold Flier, Gr 1 Gold Challenge winner Successful Bidder and Gr 1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner Trust Antonia, to name but a few from a succesful family.

Luxardo is a graduate from the Backworth draft of the 2011 Suncoast Casino KZN Yearling Sale.
