Crusade(USA) Stallion Day Invitation
The Scott Bros will be presenting their exciting new sire, Gr 1 Middle Park Stakes winner Crusade on 24 May at 11:30, at Highdown Stud in Nottingham Road.
Crusade has been standing at Vaughn Marshall’s yard in Cape Town after landing in South Africa at the end of January, travelling from Ireland.
Crusade, whose pedigree will inject new genetics and speed into KZN breeding, will be the first son of Mr Greeley(USA) to stand in KZN.
He is a half-brother to another multiple Group-placed horse in England, Cristoforo Colombo(USA) – a favourite for the upcoming Gr 1 2000 Guineas. Crusade is out of the mare La Traviata, herself by Johannesburg(USA) out of Piedras Negras by Unbridled(USA), in turn out of a Devil’s Bag(USA) mare.
Crusade ran one of the fastest times recorded in the Gr 1 Middle Park Stakes, with his time being only a few seconds behind the fastest – Oasis Dream. Crusade’s winning time was ahead of the likes of Known Fact, Diesis, Minardi, his own broodmare sire Johannesburg, leading Freshman sire Dutch Art and Dark Angel.
