Another Gr 3 Winner For Miesque’s Approval

Miesque’s Approval has sired yet another Grade 3 winner, with Scott Bros-bred Approval Rating taking home the first let of the Zimbabwean Triple Crown, the Grade 3 Zimbabwe Guineas, on Sunday at Borrowdale. The Scott Bros were recently back in the news again after their Gr 2 win Dubai with The Apache (by Mogok).

Approval Rating won by by half a length from another KZN-bred, the impressive Newton Power (three wins and two places from five starts) bred by Bush Hill Stud. The Zimbabwean Triple Crown was won by another three year old KZN-bred last year, with St Helier Stud’s Madigan.

Sold for R105 000 at the 2011 Emperors Palace National Two Year Old sale, the gelding out of Tsitsikamma by Al Mufti(USA) has now won two of his three starts, all at Borrowdale. A well-bred gelding, his dam Tsitsikamma is out of a Fort Wood mare, in turn out of an Elliodor mare. The mare has produced three runners and three winners, the first two colts by Strike Smartly, Forestation and Tsitsikama Strike, have seven wins between them.

The second dam is Meranti who placed in the Gr 2 Gosforth Park Juvenile Fillies and third dam is Glenelli, winner of the Gr 2 Post Natal Golden Slipper.

Miesque’s Approval’s other Gr 3 winner is another Scott Bros-bred who placed in the 2012 Gr 1 Vodacom Durban July, Eton Square – who interestingly is also out of a Model Man (Elliodor)/Al Mufti dam-line.

Miesque’s Approval has six Lots being offered by Scott Bros at the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, taking place 26 & 28 April.

A very tough and sound individual, Miesque’s Approval was an Eclipse Award winner in the USA with 12 wins and earning a very respectable $2,612,529 in stakes. He won over distances of 1600-1800m including the Breeders Cup Mile Gr.1, Makers Mark Mile Stakes, Gr.2, Firecracker Handicap, Gr.2, Red Bank Stakes, Gr.3, Kent Stakes, Gr.3, and the Pilgrim Stakes and achieved a Time Form Rating of 126.

He was also voted Champion Turf Horse in USA in 2006 as well as being the highest ranked horse in the world from the Mr Prospector line of that year. He is a half-brother multiple Stakes and 20-time winning Revved Up.

His sire Miesque’s Son was a multiple Gr 1 placed Gr 3 winner in France (Timeform 117) and a full brother to successful sire Kingmambo. Their dam is Miesque – a dual Breeder’s Cup Mile winner. Miesque’s Son is the sire of Gr1 winners and a Sire of Sires.

His dam Win Approval has produced five horses, who between them all have achieved an incredible 50 wins. She is by With Approval out of a Hoist The Flag mare, Negotiator.

Miesque’s Approval stood for a service fee of R35 000 last year. He is the sire in South Africa of Backworth-bred Top Of The Chocs (LP), Yellow Star Stud-bred Gr 3 placed Placido and another from Scott Bros, Don’t Tell Mama (Gr 3 SP).
