In form Toreador is blazing ahead with his progeny on the racetracks across the country having now won three times, and placed nine times in six days which has given him an eighth position on the National Sires Log.

La Tasca has had a win and place during this period, his third victory for trainer Sean Tarry. Enjoying the Vaal racecourse over 1000m, the five year old son of Toreador finished second by a length two days ago – giving the winning horse one kilogram of weight and the third horse eight kilograms.

The next winner is another very exciting prospect, three year old gelding Bull Valley who has won both of his starts by a combined six lengths at both the Vaal and Turffontein over distances of 1200m.

Out of mare Star Valley by Saumarez, Bull Valley is a R180 000 graduate off the 2014 National Yearling Sale, he looks to be repaying his owners back his sales price at a rapid rate after earning almost R120 000 to date.

Another consistent filly is Fiery Goddess, who got up to get her second win at Scottsville over 1000m from the stable of Dennis Drier. She won by half a length from a well-bred field of fillies off a sixth draw at odds of 15/2. She has placed three times previously, and is a full sister to three-time winning Darkness, who also placed twice from just six starts and finished a nose off Virgo’s Babe in the eThekwini Sprint. She is out of Jallad mare, Dark Amber.

Toreador’s first crop of foals born in KZN will be for sale in 2016. Toreador has moved up to eighth position on the National Sires Log with a winners to runners percentage of 19,7%. He is followed by Var who has had 92 runners compared with Toreador’s 66.

Toreador is currently fifth on the log for Sires Of Three Year Olds by Stakes Earned.

Former resident sire Kahal is currently sitting in second position by Stakes Earned behind Dynasty, the sire of our very exciting Irish Flame, whose eye-catching progeny will also be available for sale in 2016.

Toreador’s daughter Lazer Star recently won the Gr2 Joburg Spring Challenge.
