G1 WINNERS DOMINATE PIEMONTE DRAFT

Leading KZN breeders Piemonte Stud will be represented by a 14 strong draft at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, due to get underway in Germiston next week.

Remarkably, 11 of the Piemonte yearlings on offer are sired by G1 winning stallions, with the draft including lots by the likes of Capetown Noir, Captain Of All, Jackson, Soft Falling Rain and Wylie Hall.

July winning champion Bold Silvano, whose offspring include top class 2yo Bold Eagle, is the sire of Nunziatella (Lot 244). This bay filly is out of a stakes placed half-sister to dual G1 winner Rabada.

Fellow Equus Champion Capetown Noir has a smart filly in the form of Norina (Lot 520). This bay, intriguingly inbred to champion sire Fort Wood, is out of a winning own-sister to former record priced yearling, and G3 Peninsula Handicap winner, Wonder Lawn.

Yet another Equus Champion to feature in this draft is champion sprinter Captain Of All. The son of Captain Al is the sire of Bella Ballerina (Lot 391), a filly out of former top East Cape racemare, and Lady’s Slipper winner, Dancing Natasha. This filly is from an outstanding US family, with her relatives including numerous high-class performers including top sire Into Mischief and his Breeders’ Cup winning siblings Beholder and Mendelssohn.

Horse Of The Year Irish Flame, a son of outstanding sire Dynasty, is represented by a half-sister to two winners, notably G3 Champion Juvenile Cup winner O Tamara. The filly, who has been named Calandra, is from the same family as G1 winning racemare Love Is In The Air.

Dynasty’s triple G1 winning son Jackson has made a cracking start with his first runners this season and he has two in the draft. Jackson colt Adalgiso (Lot 265), is a half-brother to a five time winner and is out a winning Strike Smartly half-sister to G3 winner Zen Arcade. Inbred to champion sire Fort Wood as well as the great mare No Class, Adalgiso is bred on similar lines to the great Horse Chestnut.

Jackson is also sire of Pietrina (Lot 326), a filly out of the stakes winning Var mare Wishful Eye.

Another hugely promising young sire, Master Of My Fate (by Jet Master), is the sire of Elnora (Lot 477). This filly is a ¾ sister to multiple champion sprinter and Hong Kong Sprint hero J J The Jet Plane (by Jet Master).

Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Byword is also represented in the Piemonte draft. The chestnut is responsible for Spin Master (Lot 414), who is out of a winning half-sister to G2 winner First Again.

Ideal World, whose offspring include champions Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo, is the sire of Affonso (Lot 296). This bay colt is a half-brother to the very talented stakes placed winner of four, Hurricane Shelley and his second dam is champion racemare Tatler.

Breeders’ Cup runner up Noble Tune, whose first crop have come out firing, is the sire of Calvina (Lot 349) –a half-sister to top class stakes winning filly A Time To Dream, while the Soft Falling Rain colt Aemiliano (Lot 293) hails from the same outstanding international family as leading sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac.

Current boom sire Visionaire has two lots on sale here- a filly (Lot 364) whose G3 placed dam is a half-sister to 13 time stakes winner Vauclair, and a colt (Lot 366) whose dam is a full sister to SA Fillies Classic winner and top class producer Caughtintheslips.

Redoute’s Choice sire Wylie Hall, a dual G1 winner himself, is the sire of Anacleto (Lot 331), a colt whose winning dam is a daughter of top sire Red Ransom and Australian G3 winner Lucky Diva.

Piemonte have been enjoying plenty of success on the track this season, with their graduates including current star two-year-old Carlita.

The National Sale commences trading on April 24th at 11:30 am and is set to conclude on April 26th.
