CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale – Registered KZN-breds

CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale – Registered KZN-breds

Golden Sword shortly after arrival at Summerhill in 2012. His first yearlings go on sale this year.

Summerhill Stud will be represented at the CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale with seven choice lots available.

The CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale takes place on 18 April, with 117 Lots available in total.

Continuing their domination over the National Breeders Log for the past ten years, Summerhill celebrated 10 years as the National Leading Breeders by stakes earned last year and they continue to lead by almost close to R2million from Klawervlei Stud, followed by Highlands and Maine Chance.

Five of the seven yearlings consigned are registered with the KZN Breeders Premium Scheme, entitling them to qualify for our KZN Breeders Race Day, including our Series of eight races for a stake of R200 000 each; two of them for Juveniles.

Horses must be three and four years old with a suitable Merit Rating to qualify for the big KZN Breeders Million Mile, which Summerhill had success with No Worries taking home the Million Mile in 2014, as well as Mullins Bay when Gitiano won the Million Mile in 2013.

Summerhill’s exciting draft consists of the first foal for Fisani (by Kahal) from the first crop of Golden Sword on sale this year, Lot 78 named Magic Sword. Fisani is a 5-time winner from 1600m – 2000m, including two Gr2’s – the Gerald Rosenberg and Gauteng Fillies Guineas. She also won the Gr3 Jacaranda Handicap. Golden Sword is the first son of High Chapparal to stand at stud in South Africa. A talented racehorse, he placed behind Sea The Stars in the Gr1 Irish Derby.

Another eyecatcher should be Lot 4, named Minds Eye. This is a very exciting pedigree – sire Visionaire is getting the winners in fast from just a handful to run, and the bay filly is out of Particular Passion – a half-sister to Gr1 SA Classic winner Love Struck.

Visionaire has already produced a Stakes Winner and Placed horses in America from small crop of first runners, and he has produced three winners in South Africa with 10 places; from just 17 runs in total, these are impressive statistics indeed. Visionaire’s first crop of yearlings were extremely well received last year, with a grey half-sister to No Worries selling for R1,4million.
