Black Pepper Named Northern Cape’s Horse Of The Year

Racing Association’s Northern Cape Awards saw the super-consistent Tienie Prinsloo trained Black Minnaloushe gelding Black Pepper was crowned Horse Of The Year for the 2014/15 season.

The Scott Brothers bred 6yo is out of the Brazillian Ski Champ mare Corre Solta, and ran a cracking fourth behind Varbration in the World Sports Betting Sprint at Flamingo Park on Saturday.

Black Pepper is living proof of the second-lease-on-life syndrome provided by Kimberley.

He started life with KZN champion trainer Dennis Drier and only once trying Flamingo Park that he found his niche.

He won five races last season in the care of Tienie Prinsloo and looks unlikely to stop here. His three-parts sister, a beautiful filly named Costa Da Sol, sold for R100 000 at the 2015 National Yearling Sale. This is the immediate damline of sire Sing Sing and John Casey.

A R150 000 National Yearling Sales graduate, Black Pepper has won eight races in total and won over R350 000. His Overlord half-brother Corresolve is a winner who has placed six times.

Well done to his owners Messrs Z Kirsten & R Singh.
