Racingpost.com reports that trainer Peter Moody confirmed on Thursday that the sprinter would be sent for a spell with the intention of bringing her back for an autumn racing campaign next year.

“We’re going to give her a spell now and she will be geared towards an autumn preparation,” Moody told Racing Victoria.

“That’s the extent of it at this stage, no races have even been thought of or discussed as potential targets.”

Black Caviar’s racing future had been up-in-the-air since her scrambling victory in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23 when she suffered muscle tears in her hindquarters during the win.

Moody and her owners delayed a decision on Black Caviar’s future until after she had undergone some pre-training at Moody’s Caulfield stables.

A winner of 22 races from as many starts including 12 at Group One level, Black Caviar has won Aus$6.8 million (£4.36m) prize-money which has endeared her to the Australian public.

She is also the first horse to have the honour of appearing on the December edition of Australia’s Vogue Magazine.
