Bruce and Delia Roux’s Spring Valley Stud will be offering a 20 strong draft at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale, which will, once again, take place at the Sibaya Casino.
Spring Valley’s imposing draft, which includes eight lots offered as agent and a further two offered on behalf of the Wynhholme Stud, includes yearlings by such stallions as Crusade, Flying The Flag, Futura, Ideal World, Pathfork, Querari, Toreador and Wylie Hall –to name but a few!

One lot in this draft certain to attract attention is the Crusade half-sister (Lot 248) to very exciting two-year-old Hooves Of Troy, a winner of two of only four starts and an eye catching winner of the Listed Dahlia Plate last time out. This filly, by a G1 winning two-year-old and a half-sister to a high class two-year-old, is certainly bred to come hand quickly!

Crusade is also represented by a colt (Lot 202) out of a G3 placed winner of six, a colt (Lot 247) out of G2 KRA Fillies Guineas third Secret Babe, and a filly (Lot 260) out of multiple stakes winner Silver Nun.

Yet another sibling to a recent stakes winner in the Spring Hill draft is Disillisioned (Lot 86), who is an Eightfold Path half-brother to Racing Association Stakes winner Just Chaos.

Deceased Danehill sire Toreador, whose progeny include such G1 winners as Bull Valley and Link Man, has three in this draft including a filly (Lot 50) out of a G3 placed winner of seven, and a filly (Lot 233) from the immediate family of such standout performers as Ice Cube, Singapore Sling, and Grand Emporium.

There are few, if any, better bred stallions in South Africa than Flying The Flag, and the latter has two members of his first crop on offer –a filly (Lot 78) whose dual winning dam is a half-sister to exported G1 performer Rippling Ring, and a colt (Lot 185) out of G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes runner up Miss Zummerudd.

G1 winner and proven G1 sire Querari has a filly (Lot 206) from the family of high-class international performer Janoobi in this draft, while former Horse Of The Year Futura has a colt (Lot 271) whose winning Trippi sired dam is a ¾ sister to US G1 winner R Heat Lightning.

Ideal World, whose progeny include the Met winners Rainbow Bridge and Smart Call, has a colt (Lot 156) whose Fort Wood sired dam is closely related to the likes of Hundred Acre Wood, Noblewood and Syon, while G1 winner and G1 sire Seventh Rock is represented in this draft by a colt (Lot 167) whose dam is a dual winning daughter of Equus Champion National Bay.

Multiple G1 winner Wylie Hall, whose G3 winning first crop son Twilight Moon was sold off last year’s KZN Sale, is represented by a colt (Lot 194) out of a G3 placed daughter of hugely successful sire Kahal, while Giant’s Causeway son Eightfold Path’s trio include a filly (Lot 243) whose dam is a daughter of Irish 1000 Guineas winner Hula Angel.
