| Strategic News(AUS) First Foal Arrives at Rathmor Stud |
Grade 1 Steinhoff Summer Cup winner Strategic News(AUS) had his first foal arrive on 12 September. Out of 8 time winning Rambo Dancer mare Coconut Grove, she had a smart bay colt.
Coconut Grove is out of Cape Kiwi(NZ) by Kaapstad(NZ). She amassed R364,405 in stakes from the age of 3 to 6 over a distance of 1400 – 1600m, including winning the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes and placing 7 times. She is dam of one previous foal by Malhub.
Strategic News aside from winning the Grade 1 Steinhoff Summer Cup over 2000 metres, also won in Dubai in the Dubal Casthouse Handicap (Dubai) over 1600 metres.
He currently stands at Rathmor Stud, and Mike McHardy describes him as “a lovely large athletic individual, and very correct, with a nice temperament.”
By Strategic out of Sensuous by Grand Lodge, his pedigree suggests he will suit mares by the Northern Dancer, Never Bend, Sharpen Up, Herbager, Round Table, Bold Ruler, Sir Tristram and Blushing Groom sire lines, which are abundant in South Africa.
His sire Strategic, is a champion sire of 2 year olds, and a Sire of Sires. His dam Sensuous is by Grand Lodge who is the sire of 62 Stakes winners to date.
