EXCITING YOUNG SIRES DOMINATE CLIFTON’S NATIONAL DRAFT

Clifton Stud, a long standing supporter of the National Sale, will be offering a large, quality draft at this year’s delayed Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Their draft includes yearlings by such exciting and promising young stallions as Act Of War, Flying The Flag, Red Ray, William Longsword and Willow Magic to name a few!

Dynasty’s Cape Guineas winning son Act Of War, currently one of South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sires, has three yearlings in Clifton’s draft. His colt (Lot 35) out of the winning National Assembly mare Band Of Angels is a half-brother to 3 winners including Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup winner Spiritofthegroove.

 Act Of War filly Lady Godoy (Lot 92) is a filly out G3 Starling Stakes runner up Copiapo, herself a daughter of G1 winner Urabamba, while the sire is also responsible for Tip Of The Spear (Lot 440), a colt out of KZN Breeders 1600 winner Carbon Leader’s G3 placed own sister Theta.

Dubawi’s G1 SA Nursery winning son Willow Magic has also made a pleasing start with his first two-year-olds this season, and he is represented here by Cup Of Magic (Lot 110), a colt out of the Horse Chestnut sired Zimbabwe Derby winner Demitasse.

Former Mercury Sprint winner Red Ray, runner up to Willow Magic in the 2013 G1 SA Nursery, has a single member of his first crop in Clifton’s draft –Red Mahogany (Lot 442) is a colt out of a winning half-sister to Fillies Championship runner up Highly Decorated, while the highly successful Duke Of Marmalade is the sire of Harold The Duke (Lot 187), a half or full brother to seven winners whose dam is a full-sister to top class filly Cover Look.

Another exciting young sire represented is Captain Al’s brilliant Cape Guineas winner William Longsword, the sire of Dream Roller (Lot 26), a colt out of a winning Fastnet Rock daughter of Irish Oaks winner Vintage Tipple.

Galileo’s well bred son Flying The Flag, a full-brother to outstanding racemares Rhododendron and Magical, has two yearlings on offer –Flag Of Rosetta (Lot 303) is a filly whose dam is a winning full-sister to the dam of G3 winner Tippuana Moon, while Word For Word (Lot 460) is a half-brother to 3 winners and out of a winning three-parts sister to G2 SA Fillies Nursery third Varumba.

Other attractive lots in this draft include Spring Will Come (Lot 54), a full-brother to multiple stakes winner Covered In Snow, a Kildonan half-brother (Lot 136) to G2 Gagasi FM Debutante winner Montreal Mist, and the Capetown Noir full-sister (Lot 313) to Champion Juvenile Cup runner up Scarborough Fair.
