Spring Valley Collecting Black Type This Season
Bruce and Delia Le Roux’s Spring Valley Stud is steadily collecting Black Type this season, with Silent Crusade placing a gallant third closely to Oh Susanna in the Tibouchina, and Luna Wish, sold at the 2018 National 2YO Sale, taking the Lady’s Slipper Stakes Listed for fellow breeder and owner Lee Scribante on Friday afternoon at Fairview.
The smart Querari filly Luna Wish, out of a Silvano mare, has produced three wins and a place from four runs. Luna Wish was picked up shrewdly by Piemonte Stud’s Lee Scribante for just R40 000. Its a family steeped in Black Type, immediate family of Crimson Palace, Changingoftheguard, and the dam is a full sister to Inaninstant and a half to Gr1 horse Sovereign Circle.
Bruce Le Roux is currently boasting stats of 44% winners to runners for the season, and also birthed and raised Dahlia Listed winner Hooves Of Troy (Vercingetorix) on behalf of breeders Hartley SA. Gavin Smith trains the colt for owners Hartley SA (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Mr P B Gibson) & Mr F Burggraaf. The colt was bought back at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale for just R60 000.
Silent Crusade is out Bruce Le Roux’s special family of Silver Fantasy that has seen the farm produce many a Black Type and Gr1 horses over the years. The filly is owned by Messrs G N Cumming, C N Larsson, Bruce Le Roux & R D Samuelson, who have had enormous success with the closely related and sadly deceased London Call, Silent Crusade has had 3 wins, 2 places from six starts. She finished a flying third in the Gr2 Tibouchina behind Oh Susanna, just over a length off.
Amongst Spring Valley Stud’s KZN Yearling Sales draft on 4 & 5 July is an Eightfold Path colt half to Stakes Winner Just Chaos, a Crusade half-sister to Hooves Of Troy amongst others.
Well done to Bruce and his team at Spring Valley!
