Australia’s Arrowfield Stud owner and chairman John Messara has never been afraid to express his views on aspects of the breeding and racing industry. He sat down with Thoroughbred Daily News Emma Berry to share his thoughts on breeding and forming strategic links to ensure continued success and partnerships with powerful overseas entities, something which has paid off in spectacular fashion for @Arrowfield Stud and Australian breeding and racing as a whole.

Yes, there is a #KZNBred connection here as well, Triple Tiara winner War Of Athena was bred at Summerhill Stud, and is out of Qaphela, a daughter of Danehill stallion and Gr.2 winner, Requiem.

Danehill’s influence continues to permeate through South African breeding and racing, and coupled with the exciting Rafeef, leading freshman sire of 2021, by Redoute’s Choice, who has just had his stud fee at Ridgemont Highlands increased to R120k for the 2024 season, With the news that Rafeef’s top son Master Archie, 128 MR, is now being syndicated for stud, the Danehill legacy, thanks to John Messara is alive and well in South Africa.
