Matador Man Sister A Winner!
Renamed Hawker Typhoon after being sold as Matador Lady for R125 000 as a weanling at the Scott Bros Dispersal Sale, the dark bay daughter of the deceased Toreador won at Hollywoodbets Scottsville in an amazing fashion after a hindered start.
Ridden superbly by Lyle Hewitson, she won her second start to show the same amount of guts her full brother has. She placed second on debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville towards the end of August under Athandiwe Magudlwa.
She was purchased by the Ferraris’, and races for Jenny Blyth’s sister and niece, Pam and Caroline Ferraris, the wife of David and Luke’s mother and sister.
Jenny and Peter Blyth of Clifton Stud also played a roll in the filly, as Hawker Typhoon was sent to their Rosetta stud farm after the sale to grow out until she went into training.
Sahara (Mogok) has been a star at stud, and is now owned by Gary and Colleen De Klerk of Summerview Stud – where she has a sharp Master Of My Fate foal at foot this year. Sahara has produced five winners to date, including the smart Mauritian horse Desert Fighter.
Hawker Typhoon is trained by Garth Puller.
Well done to all concerned!
