It seems the optimism and buoyancy of the KZN Yearling Sale and its positive results is like the gift that keeps on giving!
The Bloodstock South Africa August 2YO Sale has concluded, and what is positive, besides the results for the various lots, is the re-emergence of well-known established buyers like Ebrahim Khan, coupled with the numbers of new faces putting their hands up for lots, along with the increased aggregate (2024 R80 515, 000) as opposed to (R59,690,000 in 2023), as well as the average (R279,566 in 2024) against (R244,631 in 2023).
Most encouraging was the highest priced lot which was up from R1.4 million in 2023, to R2.8 million in 2024, showing the buyers are willing to pay good money for quality bloodstock. These figures give the industry the renewed hope that this is the beginning of a resurgence of the fortunes for bloodstock and sales industries here in South Africa.
