The four-year-old, that features in the top 20 on the latest July Log and could well be included in the final big race field, is one of 14 KwaZulu-Natal-bred entries for the Million Mile event that heads the annual KZN Breeders meeting that includes seven other non-black type races that each carry a stake of R200 000 and cater for horses that qualify over distance from 1 200m to 1 900m.

Gr2 Winner For Broodmare Sire Kahal; Matador Man 3rd In Champions Cup

The stable of Paul Peter stunned with a winning double from his raiders, including the Arc-En-Ciel bred Fort Ember – a grand-daughter of Kahal who took home the Gr2 Gold Bracelet from favourite Nightingale by two lengths. Other KZN horses to impress was Scott Bros’ Matador Man who ran a phenomenal third in the Gr1 Champions Cup, after not jumping out the stalls on terms and trailing by four or five lengths. His Crusade half-brother Subtropical also caused a stir when the handsome colt won the second race of the day – giving Crusade his seventh winner of the season (six in South Africa).

Scott’s Toreador Gelding Wins Secretariat Listed, The Sheik Zim Sprint Success

The Scott Bros’ had great weekend with Matador Man winning the Secretariat Stakes Listed at Turffontein on Saturday, whilst their gelding by The Sheik – Road To Dubai – won the Borrowdale Cup Sprint Listed over 1200m. It was a KZN-bred dominated race, with the first four crossing the line all produced locally.
