KZN-Breds Sold At Cape Premier Yearling Sale, First Session Of Book 1

Lot 85 by Kahal from Summerhill Stud, sold to A Laird Racing for R150 000. Family of Variety Club Cape Thoroughbred Sales hosted their first session of the Cape Premier Yearling Sale Book 1 auction at the Cape Town International Convention Centre yesterday (26 January, 2012).

Seven consecutive season Champion Breeders Summerhill Stud are represented by six lots at the sale of which three were sold yesterday.

Lot 9 by A.P. Arrow, an unnamed filly out of Amy Jane by Orpen sold for R50 000 to Neil Bruss. The fourth dam is a half-sister to Roland Gardens, and the second dam Kundalini was voted ARCSA Champion 3-Year Old Filly in 1993. This is Amy Jane’s first foal.

Burwell Stud had two of of their first lots on offer sold, the first, Lot 46, named Sweet Carolyn sold for R100 000 to Klawervlei Stud. She is a Dynasty filly out of Countenance (a 7-time winner) by Counter Action. The filly is a full-sister to two-time winner High Accolade. This is the family of SA Derby winner Debonair Duke, Grade 3 winner Block and Chisel and Act of Supremacy.

Lot 48, a filly named Trenery by Toreador out of Country Lodge by Grand Lodge, sold for R450 000 to Rainbow Beach Trading 78 (PTY) Ltd. The dam is a 4-time winner and she is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Kongo Rikishio and Listed winner in France, Baroness Richter. The family includes Flawlessly, a 16-time winner in America, as well as being voted Champion Grass Mare in the USA twice.

Summerhill sold Lot 62, named Flight Check, another A.P. Arrow filly out of Diligence by Kahal, for R150 000 to HCW Rix. Diligence is a 4-time winner, and this filly is her second produce. This is the dam-line of Canon Gold Cup Grade 1 winner, Desert Links.

Lot 85, another Summerhill yearling, is a Kahal filly named Ishizi, out of Fidelity Bond by All Fired Up. She is a half-sister to 9-time winner Fanyana who has also placed in two Graded Stakes races. The dam-line includes Variety Club, Secret Rites, Novenna, Archbishop and Monastery. She has been sold to A.G. Laird Racing for R150 000.
