KZN farm, The Fort Stud, will be offering four quality yearlings at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale, which will take place on July 4th and 5th.
The Fort Stud’s quartet is made up of lots by Toreador, Mogok, Byword and Eightfold Path, and will be offering the only Byword yearling (Lot 223) at this year’s KZN Sale.

The latter, who shares his G1 winning sire with recent G1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes winner and millionaire Camphoratus, was produced by the dual winning mare Raindrops On Roses, whose dam is a half-sister to the G1 winning Equus Champion Golden Taipan. This is the family of fellow G1 winners Liege, Rebel King, Lyrical Linda and Duc Du Orleans.

Deceased Danehill stallion Toreador produced his share of high class athletes during his stud career, with his best including multiple G1 winner Bull Valley and the Equus Champion Link Man. Toreador is represented in this draft by Fort Commander (Lot 71), a colt out of the winning Johannesburg mare Critical Mind, whose dam is a half-sister to Equus Champion Candy Critic.

Mogok, whose champion son Wild One was a R95 000 purchase from the 2011 KZN Yearling Sale, is the sire of Born A Lady (Lot 136), a filly whose winning Jet Master dam is a half-sister to Politician Stakes winner Robinson Crusoe, and whose third dam is Dancing Champ sired G1 winner Cool Success.

Regally bred Giant’s Causeway sire Eightfold Path is another blue blooded stallion represented in The Fort Stud’s KZN Sale draft for 2019, with his colt Macnamara (Lot 72) being produced by the stakes placed Dynasty mare Crown Bearer. The latter is out of a half-sister to three stakes horses including G3 Nursery winner Empress Crown.
