Bush Hill Stud enjoyed a good day at Hollywoodbets Greyville yesterday, as Irish Flame had a double and followed by two seconds from the farm in Mooi River.

Fire Faerie, bred by Bush Hill Stud, impressed to fly along and win by 7.5 lengths from Bush Hill’s Bally Blue. The Irish Flame filly, out of a Toreador mare, the newly turned 3yo filly is owned by Messrs J W Colborne and N Kotzen (Jnr) and trained by Nathan Kotzen.

It is her first win after placing in her Barrier Trial, from four race starts. Fire Faery’s half-brother by Flying The Flag made news on the weekend at the National 2YO Sale, a big handsome and imposing colt sold to Kenya. Their dam Flitter was fast, a multiple winner who is also Black Type.

The second win came from Drunken Sailor bred by the Late Greg Royden Turner. The lightly raced Irish Flame has had just four starts, winning two and placing twice, for trainer Yogas Govender and owner Mr Colin Govindasamy.

He has won and placed only over 1200m, putting paid to the thought that Irish Flame would only produce stayers. His Gimmethegreenlight half-brother, Captain Tatters, has won and placed from just two starts for the Snaith Racing Stable.

Congratulations to the connections.
