Carpocrates’ Sibling Sold At Fasig-Tipton Select Sale

Carpocrates had a three-quarter brother (Lot 96) sell at the Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale yesterday for $650 000 to Whitehorse Stables. The chestnut colt is by Giant’s Causeway (by Storm Cat as is Carpocrates) out of champion racemare Spain, herself by Thunder Gulch.

The yearling colt is a full-brother to Dreamtheimpossible, a Group 1 placed filly in Ireland who sold for $US 2, 555 000 in 2010 to Adena Springs Farm, in foal to world champion sire sensation Galileo.

Carpocrates, from a small crop of runners has already had three winners and five placings. His winners include Night Club, Extra Zing and Zirconia.

Night Club has had five runs to date, winning one and placing twice. Extra Zing went out to an eye-opening debut at the Vaal, winning by over five lengths. Zirconia has had two starts, winning her debut.

A world-record priced weanling himself, Carpocrates has to be one of the best-bred stallions brought to this country and with such a young crop of runners already having significant success, he is sure to be a stallion to keep a watch of – and with his impeccable pedigree and looks he could quite possibly be a broodmare-sire for the future.

Carpocrates’ has two full-brothers, one being the chestnut Plan who is standing at stud at Adena Springs in Canada, covering his book of mares last year. His wins at the racetrack include the Gr 3 Keenland International Stakes. The other is a colt in Japan named Calcaria who is a 6-time winner.

Carpocrates is represented by a two-year old at the upcoming TBA National Two Year Old Sale, Lot 126 named Double Cut, bred and consigned by Middlefield Stud. The bay colt is a first produce out of two-time winning mare Stiletto, herself by Muhtafal out of a Russian Fox mare. This the family of Zimbabwean Graded Stakes winners Sharp Wit, Titled and Irish Comet. The third dam is a seven-time winner in both the UK and Zimbabwe, crowned a champion three year old in Zimbabwe – named Saxon Star(GB).
