The KZN Breeders Race Day takes place on 27 June at Hollywoodbets Greyville with positive news of a stakes increase for all eight races on the day, exclusively for horses registered with the KZN Breeders Premium Scheme.

The KZN Breeders Mile stakes has increased by R100 000, to R600 000 and the seven supporting races from R100 000 to R120 000 each.

There will also be another and final chance to enter #kznbred horses for the race day which trainers will be notified about.

The winners of each supporting race will receive a R10 000 voucher for 1st place, and R5 000 respectively for 2nd and 3rd place.

The KZN Breeders Mile winner will take home a voucher for R20 000, with 2nd and 3rd place each getting R10 000. The sales vouchers will be towards the purchase of a #kznbred yearling at the 2021 KZN Yearling Sale, taking place this year at Suncoast Casino on 1 and 2 July at the Suncoast Dome.

A traditionally black and white themed day, the KZN Breeders Mile has always attracted a quality field which was won by Running Brave in 2020 – who has recently placed 2nd in two Gr1’s and is a Vodacom Durban July entrant, along with #kznbred Triple Tiara winner, War Of Athena.
On the day owners, trainers and breeders will be accommodated in the Durban View Room, with numbers restricted to 100 for Covid19 social distancing purposes.

Cathy Martin, the Chairman of the KZN Breeders Club commented, “It is a day to promote and celebrate the KZN-bred racehorse and to reward our loyal patrons for their support. It’s always an enjoyable day with great camaraderie between the breeders, trainers and owners. KZN has enjoyed a successful year once more with the likes of Triple Tiara winner War Of Athena, MK’s Pride and Bohica – there is much to celebrate!”

We thank Gold Circle for their support and look forward to a successful meeting ahead.
