SA Bred in Gr1 Kranji Mile Hong Kong raiders Southern Legend and former Cape based galloper, Tony Millard’s Horse of Fortune (Strongman), add quality to the Gr1 Kranji Mile field on Saturday.

Both have competed at the top levels during the 2017-18 Hong Kong season, with Southern Legend finishing third in the Gr1 Champions Mile.

Horse of Fortune’s best showing was a sixthplace finish, beaten only four lengths, in the Longines.

The Singapore Turf Club edges back toward the international spotlight after a two-year hiatus as runners from Hong Kong and New Zealand participate on Saturday.

Singapore’s two international Gr1 races, the Singapore Airlines Cup and the KrisFlyer Sprint, were suspended after 2015.

The club announced last year it planned to resume international competition by opening the 2018 Kranji Mile as an invitational event and boosting purses for that race and the supporting Gr1 Lion City Cup.

Horse Of Fortune is a half-brother to Singapore multiple winner and #kznbred Mighty Emperor (by Kahal), and to recent impressive Gr2 winner and Vodacom Durban July entrant, Do It Again.

Former KZN sire Stronghold’s career was shortlived before he passed away, and he produced the likes of Negev, Patriotic Rebel and Double Clutch.
