Two of Toreador’s offspring, also born on Anton and Judy Proctor’s Burwell farm, are situated in the mist belt above Pietermaritzburg could well keep the red flag flying in another Olé for Toreador.

Cumulus, by Toreador out of Celestial Cloud, is diminutive but speedy and his similarity in both size and conformation to Misty Birnam, encouraged Rob Haswell, a former Mayor and Municipal Manager of Pietermaritzburg to purchase him from the Proctors.

“He won first time out and has paid his way, so when Anton showed me a yearling – Hungry Eyes by Toreador out of Step it Up – I did not hesitate as he oozes class. He is now a two year old and is already more imposing than Misty Dawn or Cumulus, and will join Nathan Kotzen’s yard at Summerveld next month,” said Haswell.
