Cathy Martin of Hadlow Stud has reported that Emperors Dance is showing signs of being due to foal very soon, and sent through a photographic update of the special broodmare – the dam of Dancewiththedevil. Owned by Graystone Stud, she is in foal to St John Gray’s Jam Alley(AUS). Emperor’s Dance has a filly named Dance Alley racing with St John Gray, and yearling colt at Hadlow Stud. The mare with unusual white pigment markings on her face is by Caesour out of an Elliodor mare Misty Dancing.
Dance Alley is already a 3-time winner and has achieved six places. Her half-sister Dancewiththedevil has been exported to the UK via Mauritius. It is going to be an exciting future indeed to see what Dancewiththedevil can produce overseas – a phenomenal racehorse by Modus Vivendi who won five Grade 1’s in South Africa, her sire recently returned to Hadlow Stud from the Cape – could next year see the foaling of a full-sibling to the great Dancewiththedevil?
Amongst the contenders for KZN’s Broodmare Of The Year presented by Gold Circle, Emperor’s Dance foaled her Jam Alley colt last year on the evening of the KZN Breeders Awards, just half an hour before her daughter was named KZN Breeders Horse Of The Year.
The next day Dancewiththedevil went on to win the Gr 1 Sansui Summer Cup in an incredible racing achievement by her owner, trainer and breeder St John Gray.
