KZN-bred Madigan, bred by Mr Syd and Shirley Rosseau at St Helier Stud, won the Zimbabwean Triple Crown yesterday in the R140 000 FBC Derby (Grade 3) for 3-year-olds at Borrowdale racecourse.

It was the third Leg of the Triple Crown run over 2400m. Trained by Kirk Swanson, Madigan won by 2,5 lengths under jockey Quinton Riddle from Thatwasblazing(ZIM) and Wildcat Brooke. Madigan takes his race record to an impressive six wins from nine runs and three places for owner Mr J Koumides.

Madigan is by Joshua Dancer out of Western Glow by West Man and is a R90 000 graduate from the 2010 Emperors Palace National Two Year Old Sale. His dam-line includes the likes of Grade 1 winning and producing sire Gallic League(IRE).

Joshua Dancer has performed extraordinarily well for a stallion plagued with fertility issues and for that reason, he only covered a limited book of mares each season. He has produced 280 runners and 204 winners with 18 Stakes winners and 21 stakes placed.

Congratulations to St Helier Stud!
