A promotional photoshoot for the sales took place at Suncoast, the venue for the upcoming Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale taking place on 5 and 6 July.

Suncoast was last year’s venue and proved to be a huge success in the warm beautiful surroundings of Durban’s beachfront by bringing the horses to the people.

Day One, 5 July, will see the sale start at 12h00 with Lots 1 – 150 going under the hammer. Day 2 kicks off on 6 July at 12h00 again for Lots 151 – 252. For more information regarding the catalogue (courtesy of Bloodstock South Africa), sale and events, please go to the following link.

Durban is the best place to be in winter and yesterday’s events proved that with a bright warm day. The models enjoyed sharing the stage with Crocodile Hunter and he took everything in his stride.

The South African Jockey Academy were enthusiastic in their assistance to supply a horse and he was transported courtesy of Gold Circle.

The beautifully turned out Crocodile Hunter is a lovely big handsome bay son of Fahal out of an Australian mare Barrameda Rose by Dolphin Street(FR). Owned and trained by James Goodman, he was a winner and placed several times and Has now been retired from the racetrack to the South African Jockey Academy. Crocodile Hunter is one of 32 horses at the academy, filling an important role in helping these young boys become our future jockeys, work riders, starting stall handlers and the behind-the-scenes work that goes on in horse-racing.

On hand to assist with Crocodile Hunter from the South African Jockey Academy was Riding Master Rhys Van Wyk, groom Wiseman and two 1st year apprentices from the Academy – both from Mauritius – Sutvhire Toolooa and Mervin Teetan, the brother of Karis Teetan who is scheduled to ride the favourite for the Vodacom Durban July this year.

Our jockeys are held in high regard world wide, with most of them graduating from the South African Jockey Academy in Summerveld.

The models came from Glamorous Models – Nikisha, who happens to be a PR Manager for Suncoast as well, wore an outfit from designer Leigh Schubert, Nompilo looked beautiful wearing The Vintage Collection and Maryna wore a short white beaded outfit from Francois Vedeme.

The KZN Breeders have launched the new concept of the Triple Million Challenge which has been enthusiastically received, and now is the time to take advantage of this fantastic concept and buy a KZN-bred; that is a horse registered with the KZN Breeders Club.

Subject to terms and conditions (horses born in KZN do not automatically qualify as a KZN-Bred horse – the breeder must be a member of the KZN Breeders Club and have registered that horse for the Breeders Premium Scheme). Yearlings at the sale who qualify for the Triple Million Challenge will have red stickers placed on them as well as posters on their stable doors to distinguish them from the rest.

Any horse that passes through the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale this year, regardless of where the horse was bred, will be elligible to compete in the KZN Breeders’ Cup to be held on Vodacom Durban July day in 2013, for a stake of R1 million.

The 2011 KZN Yearling Sale has already produced the first winners for Freshman Sires such as Atso, Carpocrates, Mullins Bay and Lion Tamer. Don’t miss out, be there this year to buy your champion.

The KZN Breeders Association would like to thank the South African Jockey Academy for their assistance, Gold Circle, Suncoast and the designers for assisting and taking part in a fabulous day yesterday.
