Crusade’s Half Sister Places Second Time Out

Crusade’s Half Sister Places Second Time Out

Crusade’s half-sister named Seventh Heaven has placed in her second start for Ballydoyle at Newmarket, over seven furlongs (1408m).

The two year old filly by Galileo had her first start earlier this month and finished just out of the placings. Touted as a filly to watch and starting as second favourite, she was held up in the first two furlongs but managed to get up to finish in fourth place down the inside rail for trainer Aiden O’Brien.

Crusade by Mr Greeley, has his first yearlings coming through for sale in 2016. Mr Greeley recently made the news as the broodmare sire of the top-priced Tapit colt at Keeneland, which sold for over $2,1million.

Crusade has covered yet another full book this season at Highdown Stud, this year being his third at stud.

The handsome black stallion with no markings is a winner of the Gr1 Middle Park Stakes out of Johannesburg mare La Traviata, and stamping his foals in a very strong manner indeed.

The Gr1 Middle Park Stakes race wins are quite predominant in Crusade’s family, with his broodmare sire Johannesburg winning the exclusive race for 2YO colts, as well as Minardi – a half brother to Myth, the dam of Johannesburg.

Crusade stands at Scott Bros for a fee of R20 000 this season (R5000 nom + R15000 live foal).
