Backworth Stud: Island Fiesta Keeps On Winning For Wendy Whitehead

Island Fiesta (Miesque’s Approval(USA) – Bermuda Junction(AUS) by Is It True(USA)) won from a competitive field for trainer Wendy Whitehead over 1200m at Scottsville Sunday, under a hands and heel ride from jockey Sean Cormack.

The bay gelding has won twice now and placed once from his three starts.

Congratulations to Wendy Whitehead and owners Messrs LR Whiteford, GS Calway, GPW Davis, T de Charmoy, JI Shaw, Sanjeev Ramsewak and Sanjeeth Ramsewak. The dam Bermuda Junction was a 2-time winner in Australia, and has produced five winners to date including 5-time winner Bermuda Prince (by Muhtafal).

She shares a dam-line with several Australian Bold Black Types including Scornvale (Aus) – 4 wins including the Karrakatta Plate Gr2, Queens Plate Gr3 and Gimcrack Stakes (L), Scorndale (Aus) – 17 wins including the Thomas Elder Stakes Handicap Gr3, 2nd in the Quit and Win Cup Gr3 and Christmas Handicap Gr3 and 3rd in the AJ Schaill Stakes Gr3 and Scorn Bold (Aus) – 23 wins including the RN Irwin Stakes Gr3 (twice) and Malaysian Airlines Stakes (L) as well as 3rd in the Goodwood Handicap Gr1 and Christmas Handicap Gr3.
