EXCITING SIRES FEATURE IN PIEMONTE DRAFT

The beautiful Piemonte Stud, breeders of this season’s talented filly Carlita, have a large draft of 21 lots on offer at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale, set to take place next month at the Sibaya Entertainment World.

Leading 2yo sire Var, responsible for recent G1 winner Sommerlied, is the sire of Aberto (Lot 200). One of just 3 colts on the sale by Var, Aberto, a half-brother to 4 winners including smart 2yo Di Me, is out of a three time winning daughter of top miler and sire Selkirk –and his third dam is the Breeders’ Cup winning champion Royal Heroine.

Middle Park Stakes winner Crusade has made a pleasing start to his stud career with stakes winners in each of his first two crops to race, and he has three yearlings in the Piemonte draft –including Edmona (Lot 165), a filly whose Jet Master sired dam is a half-sister to G1 Allan Robertson runner up Kiss For Kate.

Triple G1 winner and Equus Champion Capetown Noir is another exciting young stallion strongly represented in the Piemonte draft. His four yearlings in this draft include Brunilda (Lot 44) –a half-sister to G3 filly Celestina, Brandina (Lot 103) –a filly whose dam is a winning Var half-sister to G2 winner Fair Brutus, and Eugenio (Lot 246) and Benino (Lot 268). The former is a half-brother to the stakes winning dam of G1 filly Rose In Bloom, while Benino is out of an own sister to G3 winner Aquitaine and ¾ sister to multiple G1 winner Captain America.

Current Leading Second Crop Sire What A Winter, like Capetown Noir a son of Western Winter, is the sire of Dinetto (Lot 9). This colt is from the same family as dual Derby winner Stormy Rex, while deceased but proven G1 sire Toreador has two in the  Piemonte draft –a colt (Lot 15) whose winning dam is a half-sister to the dam of star sprinter Dutch Philip, and a colt (Lot 17) from the family of top international sires Alzao, Tom Rolfe and Chieftain.

Other exciting lots in this draft include a Vercingetorix filly out of a six time stakes winning Dynasty mare (Lot 18), a Soft Falling Rain filly out of a winning daughter of US champion sire Tapit (Lot 50), an Ideal World filly from the same family as Galileo and Sea The Stars (Lot 128), a Wylie Hall filly whose three time winning dam is a half-sister to Fillies Guineas second School Assembly (Lot 197), and a colt by red hot young sire Master Of My Fate from the same family as Equus Champion Yorker (Lot 227).

The 2018 KZN Yearling Sale takes place on July 5th and 6th, and trading will commence each day at 12:PM sharp.
