The recently deceased Crusade produced a very smart double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday, with Clifton-bred She’s A Crusade finally cracking a win, an Spring Valley’s Lady Abigail destroying the opposition in a flying finish.

A consistent sire with a 45% winners to runners percentage, Crusade has six 2yo’s on offer at the upcoming National 2YO Sale.

She’s A Crusade owned by Erich Buhr has been trying hard for the stable of Corrine Bestel. Out of She’s A Winner by Joshua Dancer, she has been a proper “bridesmaid” finishing 2nd in her previous four starts over Greyville turf, Scottsville and finally winning on the Polytrack, enjoying the 1000m sprint.

Lady Abigail had a flying finish in the last race of the day under Donovan Dillion for International Racing Club. The filly has changed stables from Lezeanne Forbes, and has inadvertently ended up in the care of Doug Campbell until she can be transported to the Cape where she was scheduled to go into the care of trainer Mike Robinson. She is relishing the further ground, out of a Badger Land mare she won over 2000m, carrying a top weight of 60.5kgs. It is her second win over 2000m.

Crusade, a winner of the Gr1 Middle Park Stakes, was a half-brother to multiple Gr1 winner for Coolmore Stud, Seventh Heaven. A stallion who stamped yearlings very much to the image of himself and a few chestnuts who resembled his own sire Mr Greeley, he produced 4 Stakes Winners from his first crop.

He stood the bulk of his career at Scott Bros until their complete dispersal, and was relocated to Clifton Stud who bred 2-time Listed winner by Crusade, Covered In Snow.
