“And Then There Were Three” – Backworth Stud’s First Foals

Backworth Stud have welcomed three foals for the season, the first being a handsome colt by Miesque’s Approval(USA) out of Rise Again.

The winter chills have finally abated, the first signs of Spring are prominent everywhere and we’re well and truly into the foaling season.

Our second foal of the season is a beautiful filly by Muhtafal(USA) out of Lewinsky’s Lover by Jallad(USA).

Lewinsky’s Lover, out of Vote Catcher by Politician, is from the exceptional family of Soho Secret, Champion Broodmare in 1995, Kings Gambit, joint Equus Champion Stayer, Promise From My Heart, Equus Champion 3-Year-Old Classic Female, London News, ARCSA Champion 3-Year-Old Colt and joint Horse Of The Year in 1995 as well as Horse Of The Year and Champion Older Male in 1996. Her daughter by Var, named Caviar, has placed from only two starts.

We are also excited to announce the arrival of a spectacular filly foal by Judpot(USA) out of our maiden mare, Angel Bells.

Angel Bells (by Labeeb(USA) out of Eve Gabriel by National Assembly(USA)) placed twice and is a half-sister to nine-time winner Silver Nun, a multiple Listed winner. The second dam is Bold Eileen, and sees the very good race-mare Bold Ellinore in this family. Bold Ellinore (by Kahal) was voted Equus Champion Older Female Middle Distance Horse in 2007 and she accumulated seven wins including the Gr 1 Garden Province Stakes. It is also the family of Emperor Napoleon, a three-time winner who placed second in six Gr 1 races.
