KZN-bred juvenile Argonaut filly, O Tamara, has won the Lady Slipper Stakes (Listed) at Fairview today over 1400m under Andrew Fortune. The filly is bred by Lee and Dino Scribante’s Piemonte Stud, out of Spectrum mare Syncopate.

The filly won by a head from Favour’s Pride and Extradite (the latter a half-brother to Rathmor’s Eventutal Angel). O Tamara is trained by Alan Greef and owned in partnership by Piemonte’s Lee Scribante and his brother, CG Scribante.

Piemonte Stud is based in Summerveld, and a young stud farm that is already seeing plenty of success – with a strong broodmare band present, their stats for the season lie currently at 44.4% runners to winners (as of 10/06/2016 nhra.co.za). Their oldest home-bred crops racing are four years old, and includes their very first runner Kalamain who had to be withdrawn off the KZN Yearling Sale after injuring his knee. The Admire Main gelding has won five races and placed five times, and Stakes Performed.

Syncopate was a three time winner and this is her first foal, its no secret that her sire Spectrum is an exceptional broodmare sire and she in turn is out of a Caesour mare, the latter also an outstanding broodmare sire in his own right. The third dam is Gr2 Oaks winner Rootin Tootin, and this is the family of Silvery Flyer, Putney Flyer, Jet Jamboree and Princess Of The Sky.

O Tamara has yet to be out of the money, winning three times and placing four times – including second to The Merry Widow in the East Cape Fillies Nursery Listed.

O Tamara’s half-brother by Toreador, Greto, sold for R150 000 at the recent National Yearling Sale.

Congratulations to the Scribante’s and all concerned with this lovely juvenile filly.
