Flying The Flag First Winner!

Flying The Flag has had his first winner this afternoon at Fairview for breeder Lee Scribante, owned in partnership with Lee’s brother and bred by the Scribante’s Piemonte Stud.

Bought back at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale for R15 000, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to Black Type and multiple winner Aloysius and placed Ninotto.

Cecca placed on debut and won fourth time out over 1200m. Out of a Windrush mare, Cecca is closely related to Dutch Philip with Cirillo further back in the pedigree.

Flying The Flag has had 8 runners for 4 places and a winner.

Impeccably bred, Flying The Flag is a Group winning full brother to International racing start fillies of their respective generations, Rhododendron and Magical.

Rhododendron was covered by Deep Impact in her first year, and Magical – who was scheduled to retire to stud with four Gr1 wins behind and a few close seconds to star Enable, returned to race and recently picked up back to back Gr1 wins in Ireland. Her aim is the Arc where she will take on Enable and Stradivarius.

The blue blooded Flying The Flag is out of Pivotal’s top-class daughter Halfway To Heaven, who won all of the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas, G1 Nassau Stakes and G1 Sun Chariot Stakes.

At the recent National Yearling Sale Clifton Stud sold a Flying The Flag filly for R150 000, out of Var mare Verbatim.
