The Scott Bros’ had great weekend with Matador Man winning the Secretariat Stakes Listed at Turffontein on Saturday, whilst their gelding by The Sheik – Road To Dubai – won the Borrowdale Cup Sprint Listed over 1200m. It was a KZN-bred dominated race, with the first four crossing the line all produced locally.
KZN was well represented at the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale, with the top priced colt by Visionaire coming from Summerhill Stud and the top priced KZN-bred Var filly originally bred by Backworth Stud.
The Galileo juvenile half-brother to Scott Bros’ French Gr3 winner Eightfold Path, named Diodorus, ran a vastly improved race yesterday over the Leopardstown 1800m trip with blinkers on for the first time, to run on strongly and finish second behind Godolphin’s Dubai Sand.

Miesque’s Approval’s four year old son Angel’s Power, finished second in the Gr3 Spring Spree Stakes on Saturday at Turffontein, just over a length off from Kangeroo Jack. Angel’s Power, previously trained by Brian Wiid and had a name change after his first start (formerly Corpus Christi), is now in training with Mike Azzie and owned by Dr RJP Maponya and Mr EG Bouwer.
