Just As Well On Fire For The Season
Bruce and Delia Le Roux of Spring Valley Stud have sent through some photos of their beautiful Just As Well colts, very typical of what the young top Juvenile sire produces with foals that exude strength, bone and class.
Countess Of Oz, the Australian born daughter of Sri Pekan out of a Bluebird mare is the dam of Gr2 placed Miss Zummerudd, and has produced five foals and five winners.
Emblem Kid, by National Emblem out of Volcanic mare Cosy Kid, has produced two winners. This is the female line of Lady Windermere, including Vodacom Durban July winner Classic Flag, Carolina Cherry, Royal Approval and Redcarpet Style.
Just As Well has got off to an exceptional start at stud, with only 17 registered foals from his first crop they have set the tracks alight countrywide and produced Bold Black Type.
Just As Well has an exceptional pedigree, being out of two Gr1 winning Champions – A.P Indy and No Matter What by Nureyev. Just As Well himself won a Gr1 in Canada but it was withdrawn six months later after a court decision.
Nevertheless Just As Well, affectionately known as JAWS, had a successful career racing worldwide and caught the eye of bloodstock agent Alistair Brown, who has imported the likes of Fort Wood, Al Mufti, Qui Danzig, Goldkeeper and more recently Noble Tune.
From his first crop to race he has had eight winners and 19 places, and Just As I Said placing second in the Storm Bird Stakes Listed, whilst Just Africa lined up in a Gr1 Sprint earlier this year. They are incredible stats considering the size of his first crop to race.
One of his most exciting prospects is a filly bred and raced by Bruce and Delia Le Roux in partnership with Tinus Gericke, a three year old filly named Well In Flight. The talented speedy filly has won twice now and placed from three starts, and has made the trip to Cape Town with Dennis Drier to contest a few Group races during their season.
Just As Well’s progeny are being recognised at the sales, with the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale at Inanda Club producing R300 000 for the last lot to go through of the sale, a lovely colt by Just As Well consigned by Balmoral Stud.
Just As Well has produced a winners to runners ratio of 27.3%, a percentage that is currently on a par with some of the leading stallions in the country.
Just As Well stands for a fee of R10 000. He is owned in partnership by Burwell and Roski Stud and stands at Spring Valley Stud.
