KZN was well represented at the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale, with the top priced colt by Visionaire coming from Summerhill Stud and the top priced KZN-bred Var filly originally bred by Backworth Stud.

The following KZN-breds will be up for auction on 24 – 25 November at the CTS Ready To Run Sale, taking place at Randjesfontein. First season KZN sires with progeny on sale include Crusade and Await The Dawn, whilst Linngari has progeny on offer and the last two year olds by Kahal – consistently a national top 5 sire – will be up for auction. KZN-breds can be identified with stable door posters and hip stickers on during the sale.
A beautifully-bred Crusade colt sold for R700 000 at the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale in Durbanville, consigned by Beaumont Stud and purchased by Mayfair Speculators.
KZN’s National 2YO Sale results saw Piemonte Stud sell a lovely chestnut Silvano filly for R160 000 while Scott Bros sold two horses – a Crusade and a Mogok for R100 000 each.

Roski Stud, currently with a runners to winners percentage of 44% and breeders of Dubai winner Journeyman, Cassie O’Malley and Frosty Friday, have a number of broodmares available.
The KZN Mare, Weanling, HIT, Yearlings and Fillies For Stud Sale took place on 4 July at the Royal Agricultural Show grounds and saw 50 horses catalogued.
KZN’s Gr1 Middle Park Stakes winner, Crusade lead the first season sires list by aggregate at the Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale, whilst Toreador topped the second day of the both KZN’s top priced colt and filly with prices of R280 000 and R230 000.
Crusade is leading the freshman sires of the sale with over R1-million for 16 yearlings sold, whilst two KZN-bred Oratorio fillies lead on the first day for KZN.
The KZN Breeders have offered an incentive the KZN-bred horse that may win the KZN Yearing Sale Million this year, of an additional R200 000. Previous KZN-bred winners include Virgo’s Babe and last year’s winner, Cutting Edge.
