KZN’s National 2YO Sale results saw Piemonte Stud sell a lovely chestnut Silvano filly for R160 000 while Scott Bros sold two horses – a Crusade and a Mogok for R100 000 each.

A well-bred daughter of a Piemonte mare by Black Sam Bellamy (a full brother to world champion sire Galileo) Lot 166 named Lalia was purchased by Bird Leisure & Admin. Her second dam is Equus Champion 3YO Sprinter of 2001, Tatler – and the family includes Attenborough and Consensual.

This is the second foal for Tanzania, her first is a winner by Argonaut named Hurricane Shelley. Piemonte Stud from young beginnings has already yielded two Eastern Cape champions – with Kalamain and more recently Gr3 winner, O Tamara.

Scott Bros brought a big draft of 30 horses to the National 2YO Sale and their previous successes include the likes of Equus Champions The Apache and Talktothestars, as well as Gr2 Victory Moon Stakes winner Judicial.

The second day saw a handsome grey Crusade colt (Lot 140) named Grey Halo sold for R100 000 to Eight Mile Lodge.

The colt is out of a full-sister to 3-time winner Son Of Silver. The dam’s 2012 Overlord colt is a winner from only three starts and this is the damline of Boston Blues and Prototype. The news of Crusade’s half-sister by Galileo securing her second Gr1 win filtered through shortly before the start of the final session of the National 2Yo Sale. The son of Mr Greeley sold three lots for an average of almost R75 000 each.

A Mogok filly (Lot 152) out of Flamboyant Stakes winner Star Watch by Al Mufti knocked down for R100 000 to the Equine Group. The dam has produced three winners previously and this is the family of National Display, Madrisa and Flash Dash.

Congratulations to all concerned.
