The Var colt is out of Backworth-bred 8-time winner Raise The Bar, a daughter of exceptional broodmare sire Goldkeeper who flew the flag brightly for Backworth Stud in her heyday. Her first foal is already Bold Black Type, the Gimmethegreenlight filly Rose In Bloom winning the Irridescence Stakes and Stakes Placed. The colt sold for R850 000 to Mark Erasmus.
Brave Tin Soldier’s smart daughter and Gr1 winner Brave Mary, second in the Emperors Ready to Run Cup, is headed to quarantine at Kenilworth in advance of a long trip through Mauritius to France in late February. KZN-bred Anna Pavlova made the trip to France at the end of October for Team Valor.
The sale, conducted by Jan Naude and Caroline Simpson’s Livestock Auctions, achieved an aggregate of R4 145 000, with an average of R69 083 and a top price of R380 000 paid by Bobby Rajhuhanan for a beautiful Visionaire colt. – Turf Talk
