TAMPA BAY DOWNS PREPARES FOR A “STORM”
South African equine sprint star Isivunguvungu steps up at Tampa Bay Downs this weekend, when he runs in the $125 000 Listed Turf Dash Stakes (Race 10) on the card at 00h58 SA time on Sunday morning.
Trainer Graham Motion is using the race as prep for Isivinguvungu’s tilt at the $1.5 millon Al Quoz Sprint over 1200m on Dubai World Cup night at Meydan on Saturday 5th April.
Isivunguvungu showed great heart and courage in his run in the 2024 Prevagen Breeders Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar in early November. The former Peter Muscutt trained star is the sole South African entry on Dubai World Cup night, and he will carry the hopes of the nation as he attempts to make equine history at the famed event.
