Summerview Stud

Summerview Stud is a budding young farm with a very hands-on personal touch and is owned by Gary, Colleen and Tash de Klerk.  The boutique stud farm is a tranquil beautiful property nestled in quiet lane in the middle of Summerveld, the home to KZN’s bustling horse racing training centre.

Last year half of our mares stood at various stud farms in the Cape but have brought them back to KZN to stand at Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, one of the bigger nurseries in the Midlands and there are a couple of mares still in the Cape.  After weaning the weanlings are brought home to be prepped for the forthcoming sales.

Our most successfully bred horse to date is the 12-time winner, Caribbean Bay, a daughter of Mullins Bay and Speedy Guest.

Having started with just three mares, we now have a total of 15 mares.  For the past few years, we have been improving on our broodmare band and our aim is to keep it small with a band of choicely-bred mares and looking forward to exciting stock coming through for next year’s sales.

Our goal is to produce top quality yearlings to present at the sales each year.

Our mission is to provide the yearlings with a good and solid foundation to prepare them for their racing careers.
