Summerhill have a plum sire in Willow Magic, the first Gr1 winning son of Dubawi to stand at stud in South Africa and getting off to a start at a farm that held the National Breeders Title for 9 consecutive years, 10 in total.
Bruce Le Roux once again brings an outstanding draft of yearlings to the Nationals at the end of April, including progeny by Querari, Flower Alley, first season sire Flying The Flag, Futura, Mogok, Twice Over, Legislate, Crusade, What A Winter and Master Of My Fate amongst others.
A Gr1 winning son of sire producing Dynasty, Summerhill resident sire Act Of War has his first yearlings on offer this year at the Cape Yearling Sale, taking place 17 March.
Flying The Flag, the full brother to Gr1 winners Rhododendron and Magical has his first yearlings on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale and Nationals.
Voted KZN Breeders Horse Of The Year in 2015, Yellow Star-born Futura has his first crop of yearlings on offer in 2019 and saw a colt, bred by Ridgemont Highlands, knocked down to Peter Doyle and Diane Nagel for R1,2-million. Futura was bred by Guy Murdoch and the young Dynasty sire resides at Drakenstein Stud.
KZN breeders based in Nottingham Road, Rathmor Stud, topped the buyers list at the CTS Premier Yearling Sale –purchasing 13 lots for a total of R6 725 000. Seven of the thirteen yearlings were colts – which included a full brother to Chimichuri Run (out of #kznbred Gr1 winner Spiced Gold, bred by Greenhill Farm).
Bruce has another exciting draft headed to the Emperors National Yearling Sale this year, and inspections took place with Jane Thomas and Alistair Gordon doing the rounds on their last leg for 2019.
Entries have opened for the KZN Breeders Series of eight races at a stake of R200 000 each, held on KZN Breeders Race Day taking place on Saturday 29 June 2019, and last year saw 700 horses entered for the day.
Whilst their places will only be confirmed after National Yearling Sales inspections have taken place in January, Rathmor Stud have a very strong draft beginning their sales preparations for the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. They include the progeny of Dynasty, Frankel and Noble Tune and from the families of Mastercraftsman and Mastery.
The Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale exceeded all expectations with KZN’s Summerhill Stud and Far End Racing Stables leading the first two places on the top Vendors list.
